Biography

Born in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, in 1991, she belongs to one of the most important families in the flamenco world, Los Moneo. At the age of 4, Manuela Carpio began to take dance classes and continued learning from great flamenco dancers such as La Yerbabuena, Juan de Juan, Patricia Ibáñez, Farruquito and many more.

At the age of 13 she made the leap to the stage in the tablaos of Jerez, specifically in the Lagá de Tío Parrilla. She danced at the Peña Flamenca de París, at the Geneva Festival (Switzerland), at the Villamarta Theatre in Jerez at the presentation of her uncle Juan Moneo “El Torta’s” record and at the London Flamenco Festival. At the age of 17 he performed at the Alhambra Theatre, at the Geneva Festival (Switzerland), at the Zaragoza Flamenco Festival and at the Jerez Flamenco Fridays.

As soon as she turned 18 she began to take part in the show “Sonerías”, premiered at the Bienal de Sevilla 2010 with Farruquito’s dance company, with whom she continued touring Argentina and Chile.

Her dancing comes as a sign of complete freedom, being the hope of Jerez dance and at the same time the bearer of her family’s legacy. She has recently won the Artista Revelación award from the González Byass winery for her show “El sonido de mis días” (The sound of my days).

Among the festivals where she has exhibited her dancing skills are the Seville Biennial (2010), the London Flamenco Festival, the Zaragoza Flamenco Festival, the Geneva Festival and Viernes Flamencos de Jerez, among others. In addition, given her good professional relationship with Farruquito and his company, she participated in one of his latest shows, “Baile Flamenco”, which was sold out for 4 consecutive days at the Teatro EDP Gran Via (Antiguo Teatro Compac) in Madrid.
