Raquela Ortega (Madrid)

The bailaora from Madrid, Raquela Ortega, was introduced to flamenco very young. When she was 7 years old she started to get lessons from the great dancers: in the beginning with Rosa Durán and, later, in Amor de Dios School, with La Tati y Guito, Cristóbal Reyes, Ciro Azorín and María Magdalena.

During her first dancers in the Tablaos she was chosen from the master Cristobal Reyes to work at his Tablao Zambra. Soon after with Paco Peña and Los Losada, they started their tour through Europe, in Royal Albert Hall and in Barbican Centre in London, Italy and Germany. She has worked in different dancing companies as the Company of Joaquin Cortes, Blanca del Rey and Sara Baras. She has performed roles in films like ¨Lola¨, she has also participated in advertising campaigns like the one for the Winter Olympic Games in Granada. At the moment she combines her participation in Antonio Gades Company with Tablao Flamenco Cardamomo. She has acquired great respect and admiration from the flamenco critics.
