Kelián Jiménez (Madrid)
Bailaor (Tänzer)
He began his Flamenco dance training with renowned teachers such as Manolete, El Guito, La China, María Magdalena, Antonio Canales, Adrián Galia. He studied contemporary dance with Teresa Nieto and Lola Greco.
His knowledge of Flamenco guitar and composition has shaped the evident personality of his movements as a dancer…
At the age of 12 he first performed in the Teatro de la Zarzuela in the play Carmen, with the Rafael Aguilar company, along with Teresa Berganza. He later worked for four years in the company of Antonio Canales, performing the works Torero, Narciso, La Cenicienta, La Casa de Bernarda Alba, Raíz and Gitano on Spanish and European stages. Since 1994 he has been involved in the foundation of the company Arrieritos, having created and edited various productions: Arrieritos Somos, En la noche todos los gatos son pardos, Entablao, Diario de un Abrigo, El Rapto de Europa, performed on several stages of Spain and abroad. In 1995 he joined the dance troupe of the Italian pop singer Gala. At that time he also worked in Flamenco venues of Madrid and Barcelona, in performance of his own creation. In 2001 he travelled to Japan with the El Guito company and, the following year, he toured once again with the company of Lola Greco. That same year saw his debut in the Teatro de La Latina in Madrid with Las mil y una noches of the Company of Hermanos Losada, later touring Mexico, Santo Domingo, Colombia … He toured the United States with the company of Esther Ponce performing the show Dreams. In 2004 he premiered Romancero Gitano at the Teatro Español of Madrid under the direction of Paco Suárez, and later went on tour. In that same year, he presented his Fiesta Flamenca with Belén Fernández at Flamenco Festival of Alburquerque. Nominated for the MAX award in 2006 and 2007, he has earned various prizes and awards for the Las 13 rosas. Throughout 2007 he formed part of the dance corps for the duo Azúcar Moreno, touring Spain and Latin America. A year later he took part in the Edinburgh festival with Compañía Arrieritos and began working in Madrid with the company Adelante Artística and the production Hermanos de Baile. This show led to his appearance on several TV programmes, such as Fama on Cuatro TV, as a choreographer. In 2010 he began a tour of Spain with the company Arrieritos, culminating in the festival Café de la Dance in Paris. In the following 3 years he organised Flamenco dance classes in London, Rome, Paris and Athens, combining his artistic agenda with performances in Barcelona and Madrid. He often gives master classes in Flamenco and Modern Dance at several dance schools in Spain and abroad- Japan, Rome and the United Kingdom. As of 2015 he manages his own dance training school, the Escuela de Baile Kelián Jiménez.
